Mad about tech? Love coding? Ready for the challenge of making innovative digital products even better? A Technology Engineering placement at Lloyds Banking Group could be your perfect fit. 

This placement lets you dive into all kinds of Engineering, making a real impact on millions of customers, businesses, and communities. You’ll explore areas like Software Engineering, DevOps, Quality Engineering, Cyber Security, and more. Along the way you’ll get hands-on with top tech,  developing skills such as containerisation, source control, DevOps pipelines, Cloud skills and API development and integration. 

Our Engineers work closely with their labs on design, development, strategy, and implementation of software solutions. If you love collaborating on innovative products, this placement is definitely for you. 

What You’ll Learn

From day one, you'll work alongside experienced Engineers, delivering vital services. You might work on large-scale transformations, code in various languages, create DevOps pipelines, or build new mobile app features. Learn how to apply Agile methodology and see the impact of your contributions in a team environment. 

Supported by your Engineering Lead, there’s additional learning and certifications up for grabs, including cloud training. You'll also have access to our on-demand learning platform and opportunities to network at hackathons supported by Google, Microsoft, and IBM. Do well in your placement and you could be fast-tracked to our Technology Engineering Graduate Scheme. 

What You Could Be Doing

  • Develop coding skills with languages like JavaScript, Java, C#, Python, Smith and Kotlin. 
  • Automate processes to save time for colleagues and customers. 
  • Ensure new software offers a seamless customer experience. 
  • Stress-test customer journeys and find improvements. 
  • Build customer service infrastructure for branches. 

Requirements 

What you need to apply

  • Have just completed your penultimate year of university during the placement dates.
  • Basic understanding of at least one modern programming language or framework.
  • Love of technology and a strong desire to learn.

Locations 

This programme operates in various UK regional locations including South West (Bristol & Cardiff), West Yorkshire (Halifax & Leeds), North West (Manchester, Cheadle and Chester) & Edinburgh. You’ll select one of these locations and be based there throughout your programme. We support hybrid working, with all colleagues expected to spend a minimum of two days each week in the office you have been placed.

Closing Date

The closing date for applications for our Technology Engineering Industrial Placement Programme Edinburgh and West Yorkshire is 19 January 2025.

Our programmes may close early if we receive a high number of applications, so apply as soon as you can.
