Explore everything Finance has to offer

In Finance, we do so much more than day-to-day accounting. Emerging technology, new competitors and customers' changing expectations are constantly reshaping our industry. We need to keep on top of data insights, financial markets, regulation, strategic investment, and customer and product development.

We look for the patterns that others haven’t seen, assessing them for financial impact and using them to shape new opportunities. We use energy, teamwork, resilience and creative thinking to make a visible and positive impact on our Group and its customers, shaping finance to do good things. Ready to play your part?

Is our Finance Graduate Scheme for you?

If you’re full of ideas, always ready to look at things from different angles and love solving problems, this scheme is your perfect match.

We come from diverse backgrounds, but we are all analytical, proactive, pragmatic and resilient. We’re curious, turning complex information into valuable insight. And, once we understand how each business we partner with likes to do things, we build great relationships and help them achieve their goals.

Whatever your degree, if you love finding solutions and are excited to learn from colleagues across all levels of our business, we’ll give you all you need to become a talented Finance specialist. Along the way, we’ll support your studies towards an industry-recognised professional accounting qualification.

What you'll learn

Our three-year scheme consists of placements across the division, where you’ll discover what it means to be a key partner to business.

You’ll undertake a data bootcamp included to help you achieve a Data Analytics Certification with either CIMA or ACA. If you are in Edinburgh you will study the ICAS qualification. You’ll be matched up with a buddy or mentor to support you and offer guidance throughout the scheme, and you’ll have access to technical and business-aligned training, including platforms such as Viva Learning and Learning Management systems, to further help your development.

With opportunities for extracurricular activities to expand your skills and experience across the bank, and with introductions to colleague networks, you’ll make great connections to further your career.

Your placements could be in:

Core Finance

  • Understand the Finance function with tasks like monthly reporting and budgeting.
  • Support the creation and interpretation of financial results and forecast future performance.

Insight, Analysis, and Data

  • Provide fresh perspectives on key business topics.
  • Work in multi-skilled teams combining tech and finance experts.
  • Use the latest data insights technology to support our decision-making.

Business Partnering or Specialist Finance

  • Work as a finance specialist, nurturing relationships within the business and finance community.
  • Use customised financial analysis and understand broader trends to inform our thinking.

You’ll gain a fully rounded foundation for a finance career, perfectly placed to apply for a permanent role within Finance or other areas of our Group.
