Meet Holly

Embracing change

Back in 2022 after completing my International Baccalaureate, I joined Warwick University to study a Business Management degree. I’ve always had ambitious career goals and felt that a degree, from a top university, was the only route to achieve my aspirations of pursuing a career in the corporate world of banking and finance. However, after quickly deciding that university wasn’t for me, as I didn’t enjoy learning in a purely academic environment, I made the brave decision to leave Warwick and explore other opportunities that would allow me to have a more hands-on, practical learning experience. 

Stepping into data

I applied for countless apprenticeships but the Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship at LBG really stood out to me. I wanted to learn skills that would future proof my career and allow me to try something new. I had no previous experience with data and felt nervous about whether this would impact my learning journey, but after meeting LBG colleagues at the assessment centre and hearing their stories, I immediately felt at ease and felt confident that this was the right culture for me to excel in - inclusive and innovative.

A wealth of opportunity

I recently completed my Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship with a distinction grade and I’m now an avid supporter of apprenticeships and a proud ambassador for careers at LBG.

I’ve had the opportunity to learn new skills, from coding and data visualisation, to strategy development and impactful presenting. I’ve supported my team and our customers by harnessing data insights to guide data-driven decision making, allowing the team to design unique propositions for our customers. I’ve had the opportunity to connect with inspiring people, and build my network across the organisation. 

I have aspirations to harness my skills and continue supporting customers, ensuring we are delivering first-class experiences and supporting them throughout all stages of their financial journey. I’m also passionate about ensuring we are helping the younger generation by providing engaging financial education resources.

From apprenticeship to advocate

Leaving university and embracing change was a really difficult decision, but it allowed me to strengthen my resilience and opened my mind to the endless opportunities that apprenticeships can provide. 

Pursuing a new role or studying a new subject can feel daunting, but the supportive nature of LBG ensures that apprentices are encouraged to excel throughout their learning journey, and beyond. 

I’d encourage anyone that is thinking of exploring apprenticeships or a career at LBG to keep an open mind and look into different business areas that they may not have considered before, as this may lead you to honing skills you didn’t even know you had!
