A culture that truly cares

When people ask me what it’s like working at Lloyds Banking Group, I often find myself smiling before I even answer. That’s because the culture here is genuinely impressive: supportive, inclusive, and forward-thinking in ways that make me proud to come into work every single day.

It’s not just about the work we do - it’s about how we do it, and who we do it with. From development and wellbeing to diversity and inclusion, there’s an environment where people can thrive both professionally and personally.

Growth, wellbeing, and belonging

From the moment I joined, I’ve felt the Group’s commitment to development and wellbeing. It’s not just about career progression - it’s about helping people grow in every aspect of their lives. Whether it’s through health and wellbeing days, upskilling workshops, or simply creating space for meaningful conversations, the focus is always on helping colleagues feel empowered and supported.

I’ve had the opportunity to help build and deliver events for both Next Gen Talent (NGT) and everyday colleagues. These have ranged from face-to-face workshops to interactive wellbeing sessions and team bonding activities. It’s amazing to see how these moments spark real conversations, foster collaboration, and build lasting connections.

Flexible working, inclusivity, and a strong emphasis on work-life balance are just a few examples of how Lloyds puts people first. It’s a culture that understands that personal wellbeing fuels professional success. Flex Summer and the continued support for hybrid working have made a real difference in how we manage our time, energy, and priorities.

Inclusive by design. Impactful by nature

One of the most inspiring aspects of working here is the Group’s dedication to diversity and inclusion. It’s a lived experience. Events across ASPIRE and other networks consistently aim to create opportunities for everyone, regardless of background or expertise.

As the Event Lead for the Risk Grad Committee, I’ve had the privilege of helping shape experiences that encourage colleagues to be bold, brave, and curious in their learning and careers. We strive to create spaces where people feel safe to try something new, speak up, and connect with others. It’s about giving people the confidence to grow, while knowing they’ll be supported every step of the way.

I’ve supported induction days for incoming graduates and apprentices, helping them feel welcomed and informed from day one. I’ve organised multiple Grad Alumni sessions and senior leadership Q&A events, designed to strengthen networks, share insights, and inspire current cohorts to take ownership of their development. These moments of connection and learning have been key to building a strong, inclusive graduate community.

Making a difference, together

Volunteering is another area where the culture truly shines. I had the chance to plant trees with the Woodland Trust just outside Leeds, a day that not only helped the environment but also helped me build friendships across departments and schemes. It was a perfect example of how Lloyds encourages us to give back while growing together.

I met people from different areas of the business, different backgrounds, and different stages of their careers. And yet, we all came together with a shared purpose. That sense of unity and community is something I see time and time again across the Group.

Creating Connections That Last

During my 6 month placement in Prudential & Analytics, I helped develop ‘Colleague Connect’, a cross-hub initiative hosted in Edinburgh, Leeds, London, and Bristol. It brought together guest speakers, icebreakers, and workshops designed to build inclusive, healthy working relationships. It gave colleagues a platform to share ideas, voice concerns, learn and grow together and celebrate progress – building bridges across different teams around the business!

The goal was simple: to help people feel more connected.

Building friendships

One of the unexpected highlights of my time here has been the social side of work. From team bonding and fun activities to after-work socials, there’s a real emphasis on building relationships beyond the day-to-day. I’ve had the chance to travel across the country—visiting hubs in Edinburgh, Leeds, and London—not just for work, but to meet new people and experience new places.

These moments have helped me form genuine friendships and lasting memories. I feel more human, more connected, and work’s more enjoyable. My favourite so far will have to be the Boat Party in London, it was amazing!

Wellbeing valued. Voice heard.

If you’re considering a future at Lloyds Banking Group, know this: you’re joining more than a company - you’re joining a culture that invests in you. A place where your growth is nurtured, your wellbeing is valued, and your voice is heard.

You’ll be encouraged to take ownership of your development, explore new opportunities, and challenge yourself in ways that feel meaningful. You’ll be supported by mentors, colleagues, and leaders who genuinely care about your success. And you’ll be part of a community that celebrates diversity, fosters inclusion, and believes in the power of people.

However you connect with people around the business, every experience here helps shape a more inclusive, and impactful future!

Final Thoughts

I’m proud to work for Lloyds Banking Group. I’m proud of the culture we’ve built, the values we live by, and the people I get to work with every day. It’s a place where you can be yourself, grow your career, and make a real difference - not just in the business, but in the lives of those around you.

For anyone thinking about joining, I’d say this: be bold, be curious, and be ready to thrive. Because at Lloyds Banking Group, you won’t just find a job—you’ll find a place where you belong.
