Shaping the future of lending
Consumer banking is changing fast – and we want students who can change it with us.
The Product and Partnerships industrial placement is designed to develop our next generation of product leaders – curious thinkers, data explorers and customer-first creators who can turn insight into innovation. You’ll learn how products are built, launched and evolved to meet changing customer needs. And you’ll do it all on real projects that impact millions of people, seeing your ideas move from whiteboard to launch day.
One year. Real impact.
You’re 12 month Industrial Placement in Consumer Lending is designed to build expertise in Consumer Lending, the centre of excellence for mortgages, loans, cards, car finance and leasing. You could gain experience in:
- Product & Platform – learn how products are diversified, managed and delivered. Work on customer journey design, digital experiences and platform innovation.
- Strategic Partnerships – work with major partners to shape new products, manage relationships and ensure safe, profitable delivery.

By the end of your placement, you’ll start to gain real life knowledge, understanding and confidence in:
- Financially literate – confident in how banks make decisions and generate revenue.
- Product-focused – skilled in diversification, management and delivery of lending products.
- Insight-driven – using data to validate strategy and improve journeys.
- Relationship-ready – building and managing partnerships that add value.
- AI-capable – using AI tools to work smarter and faster.
- Agile-minded – solving problems collaboratively and delivering at pace.

The work you could be doing
- Researching customer behaviour to improve lending products.
- Shaping new journeys for mortgages, loans or car finance.
- Leading cross-team projects to deliver change.
- Working with external partners to bring new propositions to market.
- Supporting greener, more sustainable ways to live and borrow.

Requirements
- Be in your penultimate year at university.
- While we do not require a set projected minimum degree achievement, we strongly recommend the ability to be able to demonstrate sound knowledge, understanding and technical skills aligned to the role. Some aspects of this, alongside behaviours and values, will be assessed through the application process.
- We cannot sponsor visas.
- Knowledge of at least one modern programming language or framework.
- A genuine passion for technology and the drive to keep learning.
Choose from Manchester, Leeds, Watford (London), Cardiff or Chester. With our hybrid working policy, all colleagues spend at least two days a week in the office.
Applications for the Product and Partnerships Industrial Placement will open on 10th September and close 8th November, except for the London location, which closes on 4th October.
Our industrial placements may close early if we receive a high number of applications, so it’s best to apply as soon as possible.
