About the Programme

On this programme you'll gain an unparalleled breadth of experience at the cutting edge of HR practice. As well as working in a variety of roles across the HR function, you'll gain a strong commercial understanding of the organisation by undertaking a six-month business-based role.  And, along the way, we'll fund and support your study towards a Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) qualification. If you've already got this qualification, we'll support you in identifying a specialist area to expand your HR knowledge even further.

About the Placements

This two-year programme consists of three placements:

Generalist Placement

Here you'll gain a broad understanding of the key elements of HR, and put your newly-gained skills into practice. Working with HR professionals in a business-facing environment, you'll have the opportunity to help deliver the core elements of the people agenda to one of our business areas. During these nine months, you'll also gain invaluable insight into the way that HR professionals understand the needs of the business, and develop solutions to achieve business objectives.

Front Line Placement

This is where you'll see HR brought to life as you experience it in a business-based role. You'll grow your appreciation of what makes HR work for different businesses. And you'll develop your commercial awareness - giving you the edge when it comes to understanding what our customers want from us. You'll also be able to draw upon this knowledge when designing and implementing HR activities, processes and approaches. On this six-month placement you could be based in a branch or team that lends to business customers. Or, to help develop your management skills, you could be leading a team in a call centre or an operational team.

Specialist HR Placement

On this nine-month placement you'll have the opportunity to join one of our Centres of Excellence. Whether it's Resourcing, Learning, Reward, Employee Relations, Talent, Performance Management, Change Management or one of many other HR specialisms, you'll have the chance to design and implement the strategy.  And, as you work with HR teams across the Group, you'll understand how HR can be constructed to support all our different businesses. You'll build your relationship management skills too.

What we are looking for

Prove to us that your people skills are second-to-none, and that you have a flexible approach to working in a variety of situations.
