Kenexa has produced a new whitepaper which shows that employees are universally engaged by four factors: inspiring leaders, effective managers, exciting work and a caring organisation. The whitepaper also includes organisational actions for encouraging inspiring leaders, creating effective managers, instigating exciting work and becoming a more responsible employer.

Kenexa's research has revealed the quickest way increase employee engagement is to improve leadership and management. Employees who believe that their leaders and managers are effective have an engagement level that is three-to-five times higher than those who feel their leaders and managers are ineffective.
