Helping business

The Lloyds Banking Group Wholesale division has committed approximately £35 billion of gross lending to the Corporate and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector during 2009.

Our strategy is aimed at helping customers ‘through-the–cycle’. We have expanded our specialist Business Support Unit which provides advice and guidance to firms adversely affected by the recession.

Our business charters set out our commitments to customers. Our latest charter aims to encourage enterprise and help 300,000 new business start ups by 2012.

Helping homeowners

The Lloyds Banking Group Retail division provides one in four residential mortgages, making it the leading UK mortgage lender.
We have maintained strong levels of new gross mortgage lending. Our gross mortgage lending was £35 billion – a share of 24%.

More than 60% of new lending was for house purchase rather than remortgage. We continue to develop innovative products especially those aimed at helping first time buyers get on the property ladder.
